Executive Pastor

Rev. Hornsby was born in Waco, TX and is the 2nd son of Ural and Ethelyn Hornsby. Rev. Hornsby gave his life to Christ at the age of 9 and was baptized at Goshen Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Harrison Community outside of Waco. He remained a member of Goshen Cumberland Presbyterian Church until 1981. He then joined New Hope Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas where he remained a faithful member and served as a Deacon and Chairman of Finance until 1996. He attended George Washington Carver High School from first thru 11th grade. He spent his senior year at LaVega High School. After graduating from high school he attended McLennan Community College for 1 semester before joining the United States Air Force.

Rev. Hornsby was stationed at Carswell Air Force Base in Fort Worth, TX from 1972-1976. After his honorable discharge from the Air Force, he attended Tarrant County College, earning his Associate of Arts degree in 1978. Rev. Hornsby continued his education at The University of Texas at Arlington where he earned his Bachelor of Business Administration (Management concentration) degree in 1981. During this same time he was employed by the General Services Administration (1976-1978); U. S. Army Corps of Engineers (1978-1984); and General Dynamics/Lockheed Martin (1984-1993). In 1985 he joined the U. S. Air Force Reserves and retired in April, 2005 as a Master Sergeant.

After being laid off from Lockheed Martin in November of 1993 he enrolled in Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in January, 1994 where he earned a Master of Arts degree in Marriage and Family Counseling and a Master of Arts degree in Religious Education (1997).

Rev. Hornsby began his ministry at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Mansfield, TX in February 1997 as the Education Director. On the 1st Sunday of August 1999, he announced that he had accepted his call to the Ministry and preached his Inaugural Sermon November 7, 1999 and was Ordained February 3, 2002. Rev. Hornsby continues to serve in his role as Minister of Education and Counseling. In January 2007, Rev. Hornsby was promoted to the position of Executive Pastor of Bethlehem Baptist Church.

As a community and denominational worker, Rev. Hornsby serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the Tarrant County Mental Health Association; member of the Vocational Theological Education Council of the Baptist General Convention of Texas; and Field Consultant for the Office of African American Ministry, Baptist General Convention of Texas.

He is married to Darlene Hornsby and they have 1 son Douglas M. Jarmon, II.
