Youth Minister Carlos M. Francis was born on January 3, 1981 a Harris Hospital in Ft. Worth, TX. Carlos and his older siblings, Anthony and Renetta Francis, were a part of the Wednesday’s Child National Adoption Center. At the age of three, Carlos and his siblings were blessed to be adopted by Jimmy Francis and Melissa McDade. Jimmy and Melissa raised Carlos and his siblings in a Christian home, and he accepted Christ, as well as his call to the ministry at the age of ten. Carlos attended Southwest High School, where he played football, basketball, and ran track. He also worked full-time at Sonic Drive-In during his entire high school career. After graduating from Southwest High in 1999, he accepted a full scholarship to Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX. During his career at Texas Tech, Carlos was a Big 12, two-sport, NCAA Athlete. He was a speedy wide receiver for the Red Raider football team and an All-American in the 100 & 200 meters and 4 x 1 relay team in track and field. Carlos was also part of the All Big 12 Academic Team. After his Red Raider career, Carlos graduated from Texas Tech University in December, 2003 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Exercise and Sport Science, with a minor in English. Carlos accepted his invitation to the 2004 NFL Combine, where he made a huge impression by running a 4.28 in the 40-yard dash, which was 2nd fastest under Deon Sanders. Carlos was drafted by the Oakland Raiders in the 2004 NFL Draft, in the 4th round 99th pick. He was an Oakland Raider for 4 seasons until he was released and decided it was time for him to retire from football. Carlos and his wife, Martisha Dorsey of Terrell, TX (also a Texas Tech Alumni) reside in Arlington, TX. Carlos continues to be loyal to the Lord and serves as the Youth Minister at Bethlehem Baptist Church. |
